Two pups headed to MS shortly!

The wifey and I will be picking up a red female, and a blue male around the first week of August, which will then join us at our home in Clinton, MS.

We recently lost our beloved Jo, an original Mountain Cur, after almost seven wonderful years, and now have decided it is time to regroup.

I am looking forward to training these new members of our family. And, if only half of what we hear about Lacys is true, we should be a busy bunch shortly.

The blue male will be put into service as a blood dog, and shed antler retriever. The female will be charged with keeping the varmits away from our door!

For now, both of us are like kids at Christmas, who cannot wait to pick the pups up!

Your family is going to find so much enjoyment from your pups.  They will keep you hopping and on your toes to be sure, especially with two pups at one time.   And I guarantee that you'll never regret having a Lacy--they are addictive!  Good luck and please keep us posted on what they are up to.

    Thanks Rebecca!

The wifey just called and informed me that "her" pup, the Red female, would be trained to bloodtrail, and find shed antlers too!

She also stated that her pup would not be the "pup left behind" when it comes to education! This is going to be more interesting than I first figured... I just thought she wanted a pretty face to keep her company when I am out hunting!

Well, the time before we pick up our pups is passing extremely slowly. Can you believe it?

But, Lisa and Mark Jackson have been kind enough to extend an invite for Cristi and I to stop by and meet them and their Lacys when we pass through the D/FW area next month. They have a red female, and a blue male that are just over one year old. so we can get a good idea of what we might end up with!

Lisa also spent a good bit of time educating me on what it will be like to travel long distance with these youngsters. Its going to be a long ride home, but I am guessing all four of us will enjoy it!

I wouldn't worry too much about the road trip.  We drove from Crawfordville, FL to Gonzales, TX three summers in a row to pick up each of our males.  862 miles each way!!  Other than the boys not having a clue as to what a collar and leash were it was no problem.  My advice is to make darn sure that the collar is on snug enough cause when they hit the end of the leash they can pop right out of it.  Of course they were scared of all the strange sights and sounds and didn't know their names yet.  But mostly They slept.  We made lots of pit stops.  Check out my photo album and you'll see how they traveled.  I'll bet good money that they will have bonded with you by the time you make it home.  We carried a cat carrier but didn't need it.

You are in for a lot of fun.  Kinda like the fun that having twins is--double the work but just watching them play together will be wonderful.  Keep us posted.

May I suggest a harness? I keep one on Talley whenever we travel. If she's acting up I just thread the seat belt through the back strap. It's great not having to worry about her while I concentrate on driving, talking on the phone, putting on mascara, eating a hamburger, etc, etc, etc. Only kidding!

How far are Y'all from Camp Point? I bought a pair of mules from a couple who live there. It was my first trip to Illinois and I got to go ice fishing. That was cool.
