    "Camos' 13th find"

    Hello Everyone,

just a brief update on my little "Camo", 4 mts old and going on his 13th find.  he is what i thought he was and more....this little dude loves to hunt.  i have been blessed with a "super-dog".    my hats off to Hugh Mcclelland and Ken Castle for coming up with this breeding,  this pup is absolutely the best dog ive ever had any part of.  he puts a big smile on my face everytime we go out.  this last weekend , had a hunter looking for a small pig, well after the shot we put camo down on the blood, 40 yds later we jump this pig which had been apparently hit in the front leg, after a 25 yd run, the pig was properly "bayed up" by my little rascal.   i'm still beaming as you can tell.

Thanks again Hugh for breeding for excellence, it really shows in this little guy.

    Re: "Camos' 13th find"

Thanks Abel, he is just a great dog with a lot of natural talent.   I had him on the long line until the hog jumped up about 10yds in front of us, at that point i released Camo and he immediatly gave chase , and the hog ran into some thick brush where Camo went crazy barking at him.  The pig was small so i knew there was no danger of Camo getting hurt.  the pig did make a few short charges at him but camo whipped around him and continued to fight and bark.  it was  a blast  watching him work.

by the way how is Muzzy doing ?  havent seen any reports on him lately.....call me if i can ever help you,  tom

    Re: "Camos' 13th find"

Thanks Tom,  I will get a hold of you if I need anything.

Muzzy is doing great.  Unfortunately im having a very, very slow hunting season!  We have been very busy making and transporting hay.  We just finished on Sunday and hopefully I will have more time to hunt.  Just last night I did my first "blind trail" for him.  My buddy helped me out.  At around 11:00 last night we put Muzzy on it and he found it with no problems.  It went about 175 yards and was two hours old.  I was so proud and I think he is ready for the real thing.  I will keep you updated when it happens.

    Re: "Camos' 13th find"

    abel,

thats great news on the night time track and two hours old is awesome, i have yet to try one at night.  all camos tracks have been day time with a lot of blood.  ive been playing it pretty safe at this stage.  by january i'll try stretching out the time and distance of the track, but as you know you cant always get the perfect distance.  too much gun or too close and you dont get to track,  too little gun -you dont get enough blood to track,  so its a fine line.  at this point you just want to get him on as many good blood trails as possible , hopefully with a "find" at the end of the trail.....if you find yourself struggling to get him on good blood trails you ought to consider "packing" a deer leg or piece of hide(plastic bag in back pack)  with you so that if the blood runs out and your concerned it might be a "no find",  you or a friend could throw down that article for him to find.  i believe he needs as much success  as possible and this would ensure him finding something every time you go out. bit of a hassle but well worth it.    just something to think about. ive done this when working young dogs on quail hunts and it works.......

good luck to you and muzzy,

    tom

Sorry about that!  I didn't look it up and spoke to soon.  I forgot Diamond did have the last litter and not Ruby.  Thanks for correcting.  Look wise he does remind me of General even though General isn't his daddy.
