TEXAS LACY GAME DOG ASSOCIATION

MEMBER-BREEDER CODE OF ETHICS FORM

All breeders listed in the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association Breeders Directory and who offer puppies for sale or adult dogs for sale to the public, are currently being asked to agree to the following Code of Ethics and to be bound by its standard of behavior.

Documented proof of failure to comply will result in removal from the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association directory as directed by the Board of Directors of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association.

  1. To abide by the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association and Lacy Game Dog By-Laws and the rules and regulations thereof.
  2. To keep accurate breeding records, registration papers and pedigrees.
  3. That all advertising shall be honest and not in any way misrepresentative, fraudulent, or misleading.
  4. To support and conduct only ethical trade practices, with all services, sales, or transfers mutually agreed upon.
  5. I will maintain a safe, clean and sanitary facility for all stud dogs, gyp, adult dogs and puppies for sale.
  6. That all dogs offered as stud shall be registered by the Lacy Game Dog Registry and shall not be bred until they are both physically and mentally mature and shall be in good health and free from communicable diseases.
  7. I will not breed any gyp or male until they are both physically and mentally mature, and I will not continue to breed any Gyp or Male beyond an appropriate age for the breed nor shall be bred repeatedly in such a manner as to endanger their health or the puppies and their physical and mental well-being.  That Gyps being bred shall be Lacy Game Dog registered or registered by a registry recognized by the Lacy Game Dog Registry, and shall be in good health and free from communicable diseases.
  8. That all gyps will be bred with intentions of that particular breeding to maintain the breed and never for purely commercial reasons.  A responsible breeder should always breed to maintain the breed, breeding for health, temperament, looks or intelligence. We believe that a combination of all of these qualities makes the perfect pet and working dog.
  9. As an Ethical breeder will provide verifiable pedigrees on each parent, with the names of the owners and of the animals in the lineage. They will have researched their lines for any temperament or health problems and will only breed sound animals from sound lines.  There will be no line breeding, inbreeding and there must be a least 3 generation between the Sire and Gyp.  I will not use the practice of crossing breeding or hybrid breeding. In addition, the pedigrees of the parents will compliment each other.
  10. That no puppies will be knowingly sold to franchised commercial facilities, puppy brokers, puppy mills or agents thereof. That no dog will be offered as a prize in any form of raffle, contest or like activity, nor shall be offered for sale in a mail order catalog and sold in litter-lot sales.
  11. We believe that a responsible breeder should always take the time to learn the personalities of each individual puppy.  We love all our pups and wish permanent stable homes for them always. If for some reason a home does not work out, we are always willing to take any of our puppies back, without compensation, for the life of the dog or placement of the dog.
  12. That no stud dog will be knowingly bred to any Gyp whose owner is directly or indirectly involved with any puppy broker, puppy mill or litter-lot sales, or any other commercial enterprise whose business is involved in like activities. That no stud service shall be offered as a prize in any form of raffle, contest or like activity, nor shall be offered for sale in a mail- order catalog.
  13. To honestly evaluate the quality of all Lacy Game Dog sold, transferred, or offered for stud service and fairly represent that evaluation. The prices of puppies shall be based on individual quality. That substandard or inferior quality animals shall be sold or transferred with written agreement to have the animal spayed or neutered and papers withheld pending alteration, and be registered only on an Lacy Game Dog Limited Registration Certificate.
  14. To furnish accurate records to each buyer of all shots, worming, pedigree and Lacy Game Dog Registry transfer documents or necessary registration documents from country of birth, unless written agreement is made at the time of sale that states that the LGDR or other country's registration papers be withheld for any reason.
  15. That all members shall conduct themselves at all times in such a manner as a credit to the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association.
  16. That puppies should not be shipped prior to eight (8) weeks of age.
  17. A responsible breeder is always willing to give advice to any new owners. We are always here to help answer anyone's questions about their dog or help in any way we can, whether or not their dog was purchased from us.
  18. All violations or complaints shall be evaluated by the Board of Directors.
  19. Amendments to these Code of Ethics maybe changed by the Board of Directors of the Texas Lacy Game Dog Association without prior notice to the Member-Breeder
